Last week, the children were very busy across the school. As part of our focus on diversity, each year group focused on a person of historical significance from another culture. Each year group read about the life of their chosen person and then created work based around them.
Reception learned about the inspiring life of Brazilian footballer, Pelé. Year 1 learned about the life of the talented singer, Ella Fitzgerald. Year 2 looked at the life of inspirational artist, Jean-Michel Basquiat. Year 3 looked at the life of the ground-breaking Olympian, Jesse Owens. Year 4 focused their learning around the extraordinary life of education activist, Malala Yousafzai. Year 5 focused on the selfless life of Mahatma Gandhi. Finally, Year 6 studied the life of the influential nurse, Mary Seacole. As a school, we have created a beautiful display in the half of our hard work.
We are all very proud of the children’s efforts, respect and hard work.

Last week, in our RE lessons, to coincide with the celebration of Eid, the whole school learnt about Islam. A big thank you to our families who shared photographs of their Eid celebrations with us and to our pupils who brought in things from home to show us how they pray and celebrate. We hope you had a happy and blessed Eid.

Thank you to all our budding scientists, many of whom have been influenced by their parents’ professions. During Science Week we have been thrilled to see your pictures of you and parents in action. There’s …..
• Food preparation involving mixing, grating and rolling, baking and cooking.
• Exploring the countryside’s paths, hills, waterfalls, mossy walls, trees and flowers.
• Gardening – digging, mowing and planting.
• Looking after our beloved pets.
• Tying and dying our clothes.
• Researching famous scientists in a good book.
• Experimenting with sweets, gases and flowers in diluted food dye.
• Experimenting with all things that fizz – from bath bombs to volcanoes.
• Ironing.
• Making models from building kits and spaghetti and marshmallows.
• Lateral flow tests, ear tests and manicures.
We hope you enjoy the video!
As part of British Science Week, all of our children were asked to draw “a scientist”. The responses were both wonderful AND thought-provoking. Thank you to all the children for their work showing just how important science is and what a lot they know about scientists.
16th December
During this season of Advent, as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus, we have been thinking about how we can make the world a better place with our words and actions. We have marked each Monday of Advent by wearing purple or pink, made our own Advent wreaths and we have watched Father James’ Advent Calendar prayer every morning, as we count day the days to Jesus’ birthday.
The children had a special visitor! Father Christmas’ sleigh broke down outside school and he came with his friendly elf and Rudolph to ask the boys and girls for some help. Using all of their Christmas Spirit and cheer the boys and girls were able to get the sleigh back working sending Christmas songs and Snow spray around the playground for us all to enjoy. Whilst Father Christmas was with us, he assured all the children that he will definitely be visiting them this year (with lots of hand sanitiser packed and santabodies in his beard ready to keep him safe). The children were very excited to hear that all of their names are on the nice list and they can’t wait for his visit in a couple of weeks!

Thank you to all the children who came to school wearing an item of red with their uniform on Wednesday 11th November. It was a lovely act of remembrance. We hope you enjoy the video collage from the day.
A huge thank you to everyone for supporting St. Vincent’s Poppy Trail. We have had a fantastic response and are very proud of all the creative ways that you and your family have commemorated Remembrance Day. Thank you.

Poppy Trail………..
Thank you to all the families who have already been creative in putting together a window display to contribute to St. Vincent’s Poppy Trail. We think they look amazing. Please continue to send in your photographs over the upcoming week and we will continue to share them.
Many thanks.
