22nd September

Please find below some remote online learning resources for any student(s) who are self- isolating for between 2-4 days whilst awaiting COVID-19 test results.

Your child has been given an exercise book to use to write the answers in, there is no need to print out the worksheets.
Literacy

Use the grammar warm up slides (in the Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar folder) at the beginning of your literacy session. Try to complete one slide a day.

Follow the link to read the story. Read one chapter a day and follow the activity.

Chapter 1 – discuss the onomatopoeia, what examples are there in this chapter? E.g snore, glug. Why does the author use onomatopoeia?

What was Winnie and Wilbur’s party like? What was the last party that you went to like?

Draw the party from the book and describe it. Draw your party and describe it.

Chapter 2 – How does Winnie end up in the bubble? Where does she go on her journey?

Think about the bubbles that you are part of at the moment: the class bubble, your family bubble. What is it like in your bubbles? What happy times do you have in your bubble?

What does Winnie dislike about her bubble? Is there anything you dislike about being in a bubble? Winnie finds a way to start to overcome her problem, how can you overcome any dislikes you have?

In full sentences, using capital letters and full stops, compare your bubble to Winnie’s. Don’t forget to mention the positives as well as the struggles. EXT: draw a picture of you inside one of your bubbles.

Chapter 3 – Why is Winnie’s bubble so smelly? Wilbur came to Winnie’s rescue – how did they get to land safely? What problem did the birds bring?

If you were Wilbur how might you have rescued Winnie? Re-write the ending of the story with your ideas and illustrate your passage.

Numbers to 1000

There is a PowerPoint of teaching slides to support your child (this link talks through that PowerPoint https://vimeo.com/452145986). Choose the way which your child will work best.

There is a worksheet activity for your child to complete – it does not need printing, the questions can be answered on separate paper.

There is an extension activity too which get progressively harder as you move through the pages. Only work as far as your child feel comfortable (there are answers on the back page).

The challenge is to push your child further should they correctly complete the worksheet activity independently.

Numbots and TT Rockstars

Your child has been given a log in to access these websites. They are a brilliant way to support their maths learning by consolidating their number bonds knowledge and encouraging them to learn their times tables with corresponding division facts. Please encourage your child to access these websites, at home, at least three times a week.

To ensure you find the correct school, it is best to use the postcode and select St. Vincent’s.
